MN-SEN: End Citizens United backs Flanagan in Minnesota Senate race [View all]

Campaign finance reform group End Citizens United is backing Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan in the race to succeed retiring Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) as she vies for the Democratic nod against Rep. Angie Craig (Minn.), according to plans first shared with The Hill.

“Lieutenant Governor Flanagan knows that when corporate money dominates our elections, working families are the ones who pay the price through higher costs, lower wages, and an economy that feels out of reach,” End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller said in a statement shared through Flanagan’s campaign.

“She has spent her career taking on those fights, from raising the minimum wage to championing paid family and medical leave,” she continued. “By rejecting corporate PAC money, she’s making it clear that she answers to Minnesotans, not corporate special interests.”

Flanagan in a statement said she was “honored” to have the organization’s endorsement, saying that “I want to be beholden to Minnesotans, not to special interests.”
