Talarico can read polls. Yes, it is totally unfair for him to say "coastal Democrats" are out of touch. But it is also an effective way to endear him to Texas independents and disaffected Republican evangelicals, and even a lot of Texas Democrats. If that's what it takes to flip Texas blue, I forgive him.

When reporters asked Nancy Pelosi what she had to say to Democratic candidates who distanced themselves from her, she'd crack a big smile and say, "Just win, baby!"
