The likely answer is "yes". Trump is obsessed with Obama. When Obama first got elected, he said positive things about it. But Obama never put him on his radar. He never gave Trump a single thought. Trump had a sort of friendly acquaintance relationship with the Clinton's back when he was a womanizing but otherwise seemingly harmless rich weirdo with a big mouth.

I think because of of Obama showing him no interest and probably because of Obama's race, Obama had gotten under his skin by simply existing. So he started in on the birther nonsense.

He pushed and pushed until Obama finally humiliated him in front of the entire world, albeit in a very gentle way. It wasn't mean. But other people and comedians were tearing into him that night. And thats when he decided he had to get revenge on Obama. That is what started this whole fucking thing.

So he shockingly won the Presidency, despite being such a blatant dumb ass with no morals. He proceeded to do everything he could to take a hammer to Obama's legacy. But then he ended up losing to Obama's VP, Joe Biden. Losing to Biden was a blow to his ego, especially because of all the trouble he went through to keep Biden from even running, he was the one candidate Trump feared because he knew Biden had a rapport with both the black communities and the working class white communities. Yet, also Biden beating him was almost like Obama beating him. Obama's best buddy kicked his ass when Obama wasn't allowed to by law (or by Michelle). And Biden started repairing the Obama legacy that Trump tore down, in a lot of ways.

And after all this time, Obama is the most popular, well respected President of the 21st century, a quarter of the way in. Deep inside his smooth little brain, Trump knows that too. He will never be respected like Obama was. That makes me think that might be why he is more apt to rely on making people fear him instead. He is way more unhinged than he was in his first go around and that is probably because he picked people that the GOP establishment pushed, for the most part. But now he wants people that will let him submit to his anger and do whatever the hell he wants, especially if it makes people afraid of him, that he is a "dangerous man to mess with".

If he can't get people to show him love, then he will settle for fearful submission. He gets a high out of either.

But... yea, I think this is all because Obama didn't invite him to a White House Christmas party or something back in 2009. He REALLY would love it if he and Obama could be buddies... we saw that when he was trying to talk him into coming to play golf during Carter's funeral. It really burns him that this cool as hell, smart, wildly popular, wildly respected black man won't give him the time of day.

Now we are destroying the USA as we know it and its going to take a long time to put it all back together.
