(4,384 posts)Think about how quickly the Republicans and their owners dismantled everything. To restore what was lost in the last [fill in the blank #] of years will take generations should we follow the normal political process and the opposition does not. We don't have that kind of time, and neither does the planet.
Even if the midterm election is free and fair as well as the general election in 2028, sooner rather than later, the next fascist Republican to come along in the White House, the next fascist Republican majority that holds Congress, will wreck everything we were trying to repair just to get back to whatever you regard as Ground Zero. And we're not even considering what the fascist Republican-majority Supreme Court will overturn, because its job now is to prevent such restoration and any progress to better our lives.
The normal political process got us into this situation, and it won't get us out of it. Whatever follows after the United States as we know it has to be done on a new foundation, with a new constitution.
