They don't "clean up." They completely ignore reality and say the opposite of what is true.

Remember when the "spin-doctors" started with actual events or statements and reframed to put their "spin" on them? The propagandists have dispensed with anything requiring any thought. It's all just ignore the actual event and make up some alternate reality -- deny, accuse, lie, attack, lie, attack, rinse and repeat.
