Most of all, they KNOW perfectly well that almost all of the horror stories they report to Trmp and the right-wing press (and their audience) are totally fabricated, because they had a hand in the fabrication ! They need lies to vilify and dehumanize their "enemies", so they manufacture them as needed, then reject the certain, interior knowledge by direct experience that they are lies.
