5. Reading the whole article should convince you racism & xenophobia are due to exactly one thing: irrational stupidity.

People like Miller can't plead ignorance. They have the real facts staring them in the face -- in the WH, they can get any facts they need in hours or even minutes from the most powerful informational services in the world. But they willfully ignore the facts which prove their worldview to be pathological. None of the horrible things racists have predicted have managed to come to pass, but they insist that they have because their interpretation of current reality is warped by their own poisonous mindset. Most of all, they KNOW perfectly well that almost all of the horror stories they report to Trmp and the right-wing press (and their audience) are totally fabricated, because they had a hand in the fabrication ! They need lies to vilify and dehumanize their "enemies", so they manufacture them as needed, then reject the certain, interior knowledge by direct experience that they are lies.

For that "irrational" part, I mean that in the fullest sense possible -- irrational to the point of insanity. These people do not live in the real world. They are ruining the real world, trying to force-fit it to their delusions. And they obviously think they're justified in doing so, as they begin with a conclusion and tortuously extract the necessary premises to fit -- premises with just automagically coincide with everything they want to believe in the first place ! That is as ill as mentally ill can get.
