1. I would say that the fact the Republicans made that effort says something

To me, it says they saw a possibility of losing to the more moderate male candidates. My fear is that if the anti Republican wave continues to grow, she could be our "Todd Akin", who lost a MO seat to Claire McCaskill.

Remember that to win the general election in Texas, she needs to win many people who voted for Abbott and Trump. There is a big difference between attacking policies and actions and personal attacks. I never heard the "governor hot wheels" comment and can not think of any way it could be acceptable ... and I know how terrible he is

As Crockett runs, I actually hope she will work to avoid the kinds of attacks that make her a DU favorite emphasizing instead the damage Trump and Abbott have done. She is an incredible talent, but to win she needs to use her voice to define and sell Texans on a better path to take than the Trump/Republican mess.
