Foushee won by 72%. This is a very, strong blue area and can flip statewide offices & presidential elections. Foushee, although a good congresswoman, is very quiet and in such a strong blue area people may expect more. The area has been attacked by Trump with his assault on the research community. Research institutions and EPA both with strong presence here and have been hit very hard. (This is RTP area). To top it off, ICE has been in our area recently. People are looking for fighters and Allam seems to be one.
