for service-related disabilities incurred while on active duty actually makes them sicker and more suicidal? This sounds like the conservative playbook on steroids. The latest entry essentially admonishes disabled veterans to "pull themselves up by their combat bootstraps". During the course of decades-long "conflicts" (undeclared wars) in the Middle East, the decision-makers who put American troops in harms way largely based on flimsy intelligence apparently didn't bother to consider the long-term cost of these protracted wars. At this point, it doesn't matter. Cutting or eliminating these benefits would send a chilling message to active duty military, as well as those who would consider a military career. Packaging a ploy to throw disabled veterans to the curb under the banner of "Putting Veterans First" is particularly disgusting. Hats off to Theresa Aldrich and others for their due diligence in keeping folks informed regarding these developments.
