On a similar topic, I have given the middle-finger myself to technofascists and MAGA/Maha types.

But never to the obligations of publicly funded science. I self-police but without fascists thank you very much.

I was working on a follow up research paper to a paper I was first author on that I had some doubts about. My mentor was really cool and didn’t like to micromanage adults. Which is the best approach. Please follow the system of trust with your colleagues (who care about science) over fawning over some guys at Google and sleazy venture capitalists whether they have phony changes of heart or not while being suspicious of and draconian with your fellow academic scientists who are scornful of dumbass virtual realities and other garbage.

I’ll tell you where you can shove your VR. Is that spectacular? Maybe. But I don’t think even Yasha Levine would disapprove if he knew what I meant. I choose my own police and they are usually stricter and less self serving. But not inhumane and hateful.

Anyway, that was all over a decade back. It was around then that I ran smack into the growing encroachment into all human terrain by these technofascists and their social engineering and other bs. I still tried to cooperate despite increasingly shitty output when trying to coexist with rot one doesn’t buy into.

I am on the left unlike this student and maybe that is why I am less entitled. I still and always will recognize the obligations of science minus theatre.
But never any to ridiculous fascists who are easy going with these predatory pests of Google and Facebook and draconian with postdocs who make 30k.

Again, having always seen my actual colleagues (other postdocs, pis and students) do their best, I would never shirk there or be dishonest.

But not with some Google parasites or similar creeps shilling a lie detector or emotion ai or schizophrenia detector or whatever bloody awful worthless trash those types shill.
I never had a problem with say the Ori. But I do with self serving fascists. It’s not insanity to infer that some fucking awful thing is typically shilled as these creeps hijack more and more of reality.

They can bloody well wait after all this. I’ll turn this paper when I turn it in and continue to bash these trumpers and those tech creeps and similar frauds anywhere.
