He probably wanted to murder innocent women and children, to "send a message" to the Iraqis, or Afghani's, and was pissed that someone with a fucking soul told him he couldn't.

He probably sees the helicopter gunner in Full Metal Jacket as the "hero" of the movie.

"How can you kill women and children? Easy! You just don't lead 'em so much".

He and Kegsbreath probably high-fived each other.
