So long as they don't have to worry about the loss of their special princess status.
Many of them use their victimhood, their "sacrifice" as a weapon - "You must take care of me, you signed the contract!"
Others are happy enough to become partners in crime because they're sitting comfortable and they don't have to be responsible for anything but making sure the set dressing in their lives looks good to outsiders.
