The ultimate test of our democracy. [View all]

If it fails, we are in serious, serious trouble.

Donald Trump has federalized the National Guard and sent them into Los Angeles. He has also mobilized 700 Marines to assist them in keeping order, as he attempts to round up all the "illegal aliens" in this country.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has asked the Court to stop the illegal activities of this President. The law strictly forbids the Federal Government, via Posse Comitatus Act, which was enacted after the Civil War, from using military forces to enforce domestic laws.

If the Court rules in Trump's favor, our experiment in democracy is over, in my humble opinion. This is the stress test that we all have been waiting for. Will the Courts hold this democracy together?
