YouTuber allegedly kills rival, wife on Las Vegas Strip during livestream [View all]

A double homicide on the Las Vegas Strip may have been sparked by a spat on social media, and one man is now in custody on suspicion of the deadly shooting that was caught on a livestream in front of the famous Bellagio fountains, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, officers doing their routine rounds on South Las Vegas Boulevard heard gunshots near the Bellagio. Moments later, they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds on the street; both were pronounced dead at the scene. On Monday morning, Las Vegas police said the suspect, Manuel Ruiz, 41, had turned himself in at a Henderson police station.

On Tuesday, the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Tanisha Finley, 43, and Rodney Finley, 44. Both died due to multiple gunshot wounds. Las Vegas police said in a statement that they believe the shooting was prompted by a “conflict over social media” and that the parties knew each other.

Rodney Finley, who went by Finny Da Legend on social media, had a YouTube channel featuring content and livestreams from Las Vegas. Last year, Finley posted several videos on his channel addressing the apparent rift between him and Ruiz. One, posted in March 2024, is titled “Look at what Sin City Family (Pmanny & Julie) Did to me,” and shows screenshots of an apparent copyright claim made against Finny’s content. The email, which appears to be from YouTube, shows that Finley’s channel received a copyright strike. YouTube allows three violations of copyright before it may terminate a channel.
