(7,287 posts)suggested a few years back! Nah, I'm taking my walking staff and will be heading to the No Kings demonstration here. I keep hoping we'll get to that magic number that creates a tipping point in society. I've been a part of our local Democratic party's demonstrations since April. Don't know what else I can do at this point. The last line of that TShirt I bought, which delineates the years when we gained certain rights, like voting... allowed to have your own credit card... being able to buy a home by ourselves, etc.... the last line says something like, "And here I go fighting this same old crap all over again!" That sure summed things up for me.
But without the judiciary on the side of the Constitution, how do you fight off authoritarianism, especially when it's coming from two different directions? It's insane. We need to put active critical thinkers in the courts when we take power next. No Type C people like in Biden's admin. And we need to pack the courts. Repugs will scream, but so what? They'll scream no matter what Democrats do! People have gone nuts. If I were part of their xtian pack, I'd say god let loose the devil for his 1000 year reign. (Or was it a thousand days? I forget). Of course, that would mean all those magas weren't raptured! Oh, oh... ;0
