13. Neither the Democratic nor the Republican party have had name changes

since they were officially established....

However, I believe that the party which backed Thomas Jefferson was known as "Democratic-Republican" back at that time--
and most of those people became known as the Democratic Party, about the time of Andrew Jackson's first run for the presidency (1828)...

The Republican party was formed in 1854, from northern whigs, anti-slavery Democrats, free soilers and portains of the anti-immigrant "American" party.
