Texas Woman Dies from Brain Eating Amoeba after flushing sinuses [View all]

This is in a lot of news feeds. She used water from her RV that was from a Campsite. I cannot find where the campsite is listed.

The RV water and the source were tested and no amoeba was found. Here is my take on this. It could the the area and she went swimming. It could be the amoeba disappeared from the RV water after the delay between exposure and testing.

The amoeba is dangerous, since 1962 4 out of the 164 reported cases had survivors.It is kind of rare since that is 162 out of our entire populace in the USA.

The part that bothers me is that yes, boiling water before using a neti pot is a good idea. Being able to bring the neti pot up to temperature with boiling water is also a good idea. But if the infection is from a lake or pond, then public awareness of the area is needed. It sure seems like our legal system protects businesses and municipalities before it protects the public. This sort of thing happens, but with our current makeover of US policy, I suspect the CDC's upper management doesn't consider random deaths an issue.

The right wing will of course scream about a cloudy tissue culture's right to life. They will of course scream about 5 athletes that are unfairly beating little girls in sports while using the wrong bath room. They will of course scream about the basement of a pizza place that doesn't have a basement. And they will scream about her emails when Signal is so secure and not an issue. But 21,800 people a lot of them children is not an issue when you might have to put a mask on, cause masks are difficult and the right wing only wears masks for parades, invasions of the capitol and of course ICE, our new secret police force that is clearly not obeying the constitution.
