The countries with the five largest Muslim populations are not in the Middle East. They are Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria.

The job of Mayor of NYC may not be directly linked to foreign policy, but if you are Mayor of a town hosting the UN and several thousand of its diplomats, plus having one million or more Jewish residents (and almost as many Muslims!), you had better have some kind of solid, highly appealing agenda if you plan on ignoring any of them.

I’ll say this for AOC—she certainly has no fear of taking a position. Hers are often not the ones I would have taken, as in this case. But she’s an ambitious politician with maybe 30 to 40 years of a career ahead of her, and I’m a non-politician who is 73 and living in Europe. It would be unrealistic to expect our paths to land us in the same place with any kind of frequency.
