They likely would remain allies and Thiel has not just funded and mentored Vance, he influenced his view of the world.

A President Vance is terrifying, not because Thiel would control him, but because his values are contrary to all progress in at least the last 50 years. That, and though he is quite intelligent, he was the one speaking of "eating cats and dogs".
