Why Harvard is the "gold standard" to Trump as far as Barron goes. [View all]

Trump isn't used to not getting what he wants when he either offers money or threatens another party. He can bring them to heel. And Harvard has denied what he wants: to admit Barron b/c Trump told them to.

Let's face it. There has not been any evidence that Barron has the GPA to be admitted into Harvard on his merit alone.

If admitted without Barron being able to keep up in his classes, Trump's goal would be to have Harvard pass Barron without him earning the degree.

Obviously, Trump would capitalize on Barron's networking with powerful, rich families.

But there's more. Trump would not want Barron to just get a Harvard diploma. He'd insist on the most exclusive university club, The Porcellian, to admit his son. Not only is it the mark of American elitism, but it represents the sons of America's Old Money. Trump would be using his son to attain what has eluded him since he burst on the scene in New York City: acceptance among the Blue Bloods. Like having Mrs. Astor include you in the "400".

Trump's rich, you can't deny that. But he's been dying for decades to be included with American royalty and they have slammed the doors on him each time.

So, it isn't for Barron's benefit; it's for his father's.

And that's why Trump is going after Harvard.
