10. NOTE: Chauvin is currently serving FEDERAL 21 year sentence at Big Spring, TX--a LOW-security prison...

Derek Chauvin's federal sentence was 21 years, which he is currently serving. He is incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Big Spring, Texas, a low-security prison. This federal sentence was imposed alongside a state sentence of 22.5 years for second-degree murder, and they are being served concurrently

So, not only is his state sentence longer, but he may well be serving in a considerably HIGHER security prison if transferred to a Minnesota state prison. I have zero knowledge of MN state prisons, but in many states, you MIGHT be better off in the Federal facility.

So, I don't think this is going to be the "favor" that Chauvin's "fans" think it will be.

On edit, that MN Star Tribune has more on what might happen and where he would go (and it would be medium, rather than low security):
If Derek Chauvin were transferred to a Minnesota state prison, he would likely be sent to the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Oak Park Heights, which is a medium-security facility. While Chauvin is currently serving his federal sentence at a low-security federal prison in Texas, his state prison sentence would require him to be housed in a state facility. The move would be necessary because his federal conviction was served concurrently with his state conviction, according to MPR News and the Star Tribune.

It would appear that a Trump pardon would be doing him zero favors.

There must be some state charges Chauvin was found guilty of. brush May 2025 #3
Yes, he was convicted on both state and federal charges. He's expected to be released from state custody in 2035. WhiskeyGrinder May 2025 #4
Thanks, so why do trump and his handlers think he can spring Chauvin from prison... brush May 2025 #6
I don't think there's been any indication about that's what they think. The point is chaos and red meat for the base. WhiskeyGrinder May 2025 #8
Probably, but Trump's DOJ IS interferring with Tina Peter's 9 year STATE sentence in CO for election interference. hlthe2b May 2025 #12

You can get parole on a state sentence. There is no parole on federal sentences. PSPS May 2025 #17
NO way... Unless they turn over the MN courts, Governor, and state legislature to R's. hlthe2b May 2025 #18
There's no parole or good time credit in Minnesota GregariousGroundhog May 2025 #20
It varies from state to state but parole is never an option on a federal conviction. PSPS May 2025 #21
I also seem to recall serving his time in federal prison to be part of his plea deal GregariousGroundhog May 2025 #19
Of course he will. Leave no criminal in jail. travelingthrulife May 2025 #11
If he does do this, the purpose is to incite violence, imo. Oneironaut May 2025 #13
