13. I no longer have faith that many of my fellow Americans can tell truth from the most obvious lies.

I live in a rural area, and we have never been the most sophisticated bunch.

But the regular folk used to have what we call "horse sense" and a healthy mistrust of "city slickers" that come around and screw things up. They may not know about quadratic equations, but they knew when a fast talker was taking them for a ride.

My town went for Trump with 75% of the vote. I talk to my neighbors and they are totally in thrall to the Trump phenomena. They tell me I am the one being duped, I am the fool.

Thus, my faith in my fellow citizens is dashed.

I feel like we are on a run-away train heading for a cliff, and the passengers are cheering and thrilled.
