Let's talk about the (Rise?) (Fall?) of a newly defiant Mitch McConnell [View all]

His rare act of defiance during the Hegseth vote- will the Trump gestapo be coming for him? Was this defiance a declaration of resistance and an indication that there is more brewing? Does he have any political collateral left in the Senate to use anyway, or is he such a lame duck they'll just ignore him completely?

My guess- on a personal level he's still pissed about how Trump treated his wife. On a professional level, he no doubt has legitimate concerns about the Senate's newfound loss of power (the Senate has always lorded over their self-endowed superiority over the House, real or imagined- and they've previously always enjoyed playing foil to the president) Trump will be coming for him and he won't survive it.... but one can still hope there might be some task and purpose that McConnell can undertake to help save the realm, for whatever questionable reasons of his own.
