9. Why is everyone up in arms about this?

The lawsuit part of it seems dumb, but this is the type of issue that loses us elections. Yea, there is a million other more important things to focus on, but this is an easy win for them. If we block it, it looks pretty bad. If we vote for it and it passes, they claim "strong on the border".They are playing cut throat and I'm not sure our side knows how to counteract it. They also have the media advantage.

It would be interesting to compare what other nations do in these cases. EU, UK, Japan, etc.
