That's BS, of course, since their intent was to mislead and impersonate. They know from comments their deepfakes are tricking people, as this one tricked you and others here. They shouldn't be creating these videos at all - they rip off De Niro, treat him as a puppet - but at the very least, they should have clearly labeled all the videos on their channel as AI.

And although the channel names are different, this could very well be the same AI user who generated deepfakes of Obama and Jimmy Kimmel that fooled DUers last month.

and that was not only fake, but had a disclaimer where the AI-using YouTuber had inserted Gavin Newsom's name instead of Kimmel's - and then corrected it at least a day later. Indicating that fraudster probably had Gavin Newsom deepfakes uploaded to yet another YouTube channel, and had lost track of which name went with each channel.

But whether or not it's the same AI-using fraudster, it's still a deepfake, still fraud and completely unethical, even with the disclaimers few people are likely to notice.

I'm sorry you were tricked, but your OP is now tricking others into spreading this deepfake.

YouTube shouldn't allow deepfakes like this at all. They're horribly unfair to both the famous people whose images and voices are exploited, and to all the people tricked by them for even a few minutes. No one creating deepfakes like this is truly a fan of the famous person who's being used as a puppet to get clicks/views and maybe a bit of money.

I am too old to learn to navigate successfully all the deception we live in daily....from span, Phishing, AI....It is the Upside down world now...

see deepfakes and copyright infringement all over YouTube, and misleading AI-generated content about health and history and science and any other topic, and the worthwhile content is more and more getting buried in AI slop.

This video had the label of "Altered content" from its inception. You just didn't notice it.

Just imagine if Google didn't label them this way. How easily fooled we all would be. I suspect that is coming in the future.

Didn't see the synthetic content label till after my own reply was there.

So I know YouTube isn't labeling all of them. They probably expect the YouTube user to label them.

FarPoint is complaining directly to YouTube and leaving the OP there for that reason, to show the confusion and harm caused. I told her earlier that she SHOULD leave the video there for that reason.
