Angela includes an explanation from an immigration lawyer, Hadley Bajramovic @immigrationhadley. Ms. Bajramovic relates how it has been nearly impossible to recover some property seized by ICE after a detainee is released. That includes passports, keys, phones and valuable jewelry.

While the advice has been to keep your documentation readily at hand, Ms. Bajramovic advises people to "strip down" and not carry anything valuable ICE might take.

but with a copy, what's ICE gonna do but crumble it up and throw it in your face? I mean it's really fucking dicey. They are soooo bad.

i have a passport card. Anyone who hasn't done that yet I highly recommend. it saved me at the bank once already when I had left my DL in my jeans at home and was on a deadline. Also, I don't need a "real ID"
