All popey JD understands that the College of Cardinals has a single criterion when selecting the next pope. Namely, he must be deemed to be the least knowledgeable Cardinal about all matters Catholic. This rather odd method of selection is fabricated on the premise that such a Cardinal, having achieved Cardinalship without having a clue, is being given the ultimate last chance to figure out Catholicism.
