Related: About this forumLet's talk about Trump being finished with the Strait, but it's not finished with him.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump being finished with the Strait, but it's not finished with him.
Now that the first timeline of Trump's campaign against Iran has come and gone without achieving his ever-shifting objectives, he said it'll be another two or three weeks. But perhaps more concerning is that Trump doesn't seem to understand that he's kicked a hornet's nest and that the hornets have a say in how long this lasts. If he had kept actual experts around, he would have probably grown tired of hearing the phrase, "The enemy gets a vote." Mattis is very fond of the expression. But Trump's biggest enemy is probably going to be geography.
Trump said, "We'll be leaving very soon, and if France or some other country wants to get oil or gas, they'll go up through the Strait and Hormuz Strait. They'll go right up there, and they'll be able to fend for themselves. I think it will be very safe, actually. But we have nothing to do with that. What happens in the Strait, we're not going to have anything to do with it."
Cool. Either Trump plans on committing to a speedy transition away from fossil fuels or he doesn't understand that while he might be done with the Strait, it's probably not done with him.
We're not going to have anything to do with it. Cool. But the country still runs on oil, right? And oil is a global market. So now that his little caper has disrupted the oil supply to the world, oil prices will remain elevated.
He can say it's not his problem all he wants. But it's your problem. You're going to pay quite literally for his failure to understand the consequences of his actions until the situation is resolved. If that supply is disrupted, our oil price will remain elevated.
But we don't get our oil from there. If oil companies can sell their oil for $120 a barrel overseas and $80 here, where do you think they're going? This might shock those in DC who keep using tax dollars to subsidize the industry, but oil companies aren't charities. They're going to pursue profit.
What seems to have happened is that Trump finally listened to the briefing he should have listened to before he plunged the US into this mess. Trump said, "We'll leave because there's no reason for us to do this. Look, problem with the Strait. A guy can take a mine, drop it in the water, and say, Oh, it's unsafe. It's not like you're taking out an army or you're taking out a country or you, they can drop it or you can take a machine gun from the shore, shoot a little few bullets on a ship or maybe an over-the-shoulder missile, small missiles. That's not for us. That'll be for France.
Somebody else needs to clean up his mess just like every entitled establishment billionaire ever. But to the subject of that quote, which part of that didn't he know before he put Americans in harm's way? None of that is new. Breaking news. Mines, little few bullets, and shoulder missiles make areas unsafe. Who knew?
It was the situation on the ground before he ever started this. This should have been and probably was in a report he had access to before he started this. My guess is that planning to slap his name on US currency was more important to him than reading it. Too bad most Americans won't have their money long enough to see his name on the bills because they'll be dropping it all at the gas station.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
