Decades later, the "Military-Industrial Complex" is the only thing anyone remembers about Eisenhower's farewell speech.

That's right, hippie children, it was Ike who first breathed life into that phrase -- in a warning that it was becoming too powerful. I'm sure Biden and/or his speechwriters were aware he was mirroring that phrase, and that warning, and chose what they hoped would be memorable language.
