Doubt.

Perfectly normal think to to have. Even believers like myself have doubts all the time.

Read a few things in the religion and atheist room and just want to make it clear the people of faith have their doubts and I think that is rather healthy for a believer to have.

Funny thing. I've noticed that the folks who seem to think faith means never doubting even a syllable of a given rrligion's teaching themselves have no doubt at all of their own intellectual and moral superiority.

I never get how some don't get that there is diversity of opinions in different religions.

in the US population, and the more diverse views one encounters here on DU, I have noted.

I know many evangelicals, through work, and in public, that express a level of confidence in their relationship with Jesus/God that is completely bereft of doubt. I don't really know anyone here on DU, that has such overwhelming faith in god. None that have so clearly expressed it to me, anyway.

There may be a useful correlation to explore, between such people (who also happen to be politically right-wing) and those of us here on DU that express religious belief AND politically left-leaning ideas. That could be a mistaken observation that does not hold for the general population, but thinking back, I notice a pattern, at least among those that I know.

I've been through this routine with myself enough times that I know my personal answer -

I'll never resolve it this side of the grave, so just move on and waste time on other matters.

Otherwise it just becomes meaningless, I would think.
