Today is Ascension Thursday!

Today we celebrate Jesus ascending to heaven 40 days after his resurrection. Jesus was with his followers giving the the great commission and ascended into the clouds.

Happy Ascension day and Happy Easter!

I hate to see Easter end. It's my favorite time of the year, maybe only second to homegrown tomato season.

I do love its depictions in art. During the Middle Ages, many works show only Jesus' feet as the rest of him disappears into the clouds. Art historians refer to the motif as "the rocketing Jesus."
