Where did all the vitriol about "color" come from?
I am reconsidering putting my art challenge in there today. I am appalled...

(15,389 posts)that where I live we never have snow. Much less yellow snow. Therefore, I have not seen it, it does not exist. So I should not concern myself with it and no one should ever discuss it evernever again.

(529 posts)There seem to be so many telling us what we can/cannot discuss, telling gay posters that they don't face that much hate, or mocking black people for being offended by something. Did people here start turning on others since Bush left office (thereby taking away our main opposition), or has it always been this way?

Or maybe this is another part of the same exact thing - white male privilege fighting for life. They just move back and forth denying the problems of women and people of color.
I have no idea but it is sad, and at the same time maybe good for DU as a whole to see their true colors exposed. So to speak.

(34,246 posts)But the thing is - they'll be back my friends. Oh - trust me on that. Whatever the heck is going on here lately - they'll be back. Me? I have the joy of being a black feminist. Oh happy happy joy joy for me!

I'd never gone in for the bald headed look, but I might have to rethink that. Still, Richard will always have a special place in my heart.

(53,661 posts)I'm totally out of it, don't even watch TV. So most of this stuff just goes right over my head. I had enough of TV long before 2008, and watched stuff on youtube during the Bush reign of terror. I didn't even want to hook up the cable again until the inauguration when people said I just had to watch it.
So I did, and promptly called my broadband + landline + cable company and told them to cut it all off but TWC and SCAN.
I hate most of the stuff that's on as a sensory overload, the RW stuff pollutes the spirit. So there are some discussions I don't get into at all.
The local mania prior to the Superbowl got me to watch youtube videos of the players and I fell in love with Richard. Best to love 'em from afar, safer that way, haha.
And I didn't even get to see all of the F&F2, as we turned the sound off for the meeting. I like to read, that's why I'm here at DU.
KitSileya
(4,035 posts)Not to mention Paul Walker, may he rest in peace, who was really under-appreciated as an actor, I think.
The first Fast and the Furious movie has one of the better love stories on film, I think. When Brian O'Connor risks his entire career to make sure Dom Torretto manages to escape? That, my friend, is love.

Then-- they were all gone, all dead. Took me years to realize how much that effected me.
