(55,406 posts)I'm guessing your talking about the Indian film about harassment. Now, it would appear you see that as normal male behavior. The vast majority of people, male and female alike, do not. They recognize it is not the kind of thing that men do when they are interested in women. For one reason, it doesn't work. It's not intended to show appreciation for a woman. It's intended to intimidate and exert control over public space.
Now the authors of the article in which that film occurred referred to the phenomenon as the male gaze. One person in particular took vocal exception to that. I pointed out that male gaze was more polite than saying creepy perv.
Now the majority of men are not creepy or pervs, and they manage to find partners just fine, whereas the ones who are creepy pervs do not tend to. I'm not sure why you are confused about the distinction between predatory behavior and meeting and getting to know a woman.
The other point is that it is now 2013. It is not your "job" to hit on women or even to make the first move all the time. If you actually treat women like human beings whom you are interested in getting to know, you will likely find that a mutual attraction emerges and it won't seem nearly so much like a "job" to you to find a woman to date.

(15,741 posts)I'm doing it now, HAHA!
I did not see the film (link was down).
And I treat both my GF's and all the women I'm dating like humans and vice versa, thank you
But I really hope women stop being mean to nice awkward guys, just cuz they lack social skills. These guys seem to get the brunt of the creep shaming because I think if a woman is really afraid of a potentially dangerous guy, they are smarter to call the police than to confront the person who may do them harm..., no?
And they have to practice talking to women somehow.

(55,406 posts)This wasn't about normal male-female behavior. It was about a culture of harassment and intimidation linked to rape. Here is the video. If you're going to complain, you should know what you're talking about.
As for your technique with women, did you read Mr. Scorpio's thread? He gives some excellent advice.

(115,177 posts)First of all, didn't he get the memo? The 'creep shaming' tactic was a spectacular fail.
Second of all, why the hell do so many cling so desperately to idiotic gender role bullshit?
It is not your "job" to approach women. Please do all women a favor and stop.
Well, all women who aren't similarly mired in backwards gender role crap... they also need to step into the 21st century already.

(68,868 posts)go home and wank after getting an eyeful.
Then complain how superficial women are because if he looked like George Clooney she would have noticed him staring at her chest and come over and given him her phone number, that's why nice guys can't get dates.
BainsBane
(55,406 posts)That is an act of intimidation.
Yeah, guys who talk about how "nice guys" can't get dates are anything but nice.
