From the article:
prevails over the wise man,
while the raw and ignorant prevail over her.
Those men who lack tenderness and affection
are animals, not men.

She is not that kind of beloved most imagine;
she is a ray of God.

(148,432 posts)Then, it adds nothing to understanding.
At one time in human history the menarche was the signal of marriageabiliy. As lifespans increased the age of marriage also increased in most cultures.
In some cultures, however, that did not occur, and young girls were still forced to marry older men. Remnants of that disgusting practice still linger. Deplorable, and indicative of patriarchal power.
Your understanding appears to be quite limited. You can, however, correct that.

(36,917 posts)We must simply ignore the child raping, because it was in vogue at the time at least with other child rapists, but somehow this person is the example of morality we should emulate in today's world.
MineralMan
(148,432 posts)make that abuse OK. It seems as though some believe it does, though.
Not a good argument, nor sensible.

(36,917 posts)...although it does seem to be a trend with some. Kinda sad when your love of superstition trumps the condemnation of child rape.

It's not enough that we must ignore all the homophobia, child molestation, misogyny, intolerance, and slavery in the religious texts of Christianity and Islam. We must believe those same religious texts are a shining beacon against those things, even though even some of the most liberal believers interpret them exactly as they were originally intended.

(148,432 posts)No actual mention or condemnation of sexual harassment, per se, from either Muhammad or Rumi, either. The author, who clumsily paraphrases the actual quotes in an attempt to explain them does mention"groping" at one point, but it's a very weak article, overall.
I was disappointed not to find anything said about harassment by those two people at the link. Which leads me to wonder why you posted it without comment. The link isn't really about that.
Oh, well, another click wasted...
