The Puyallup people have lived along the shores of the Salish Sea since time immemorial. Today, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians is a sovereign nation of more than 6,000 members, carrying forward enduring values rooted in culture, community and care for the land.
As the Official Host City Supporter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Seattle, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians welcomes the world to our homeland. This marks a historic first: the Puyallup Tribe is the first Native American tribe to hold this role on the worlds largest sporting stage.
As visitors arrive from around the globe, we extend not just our home, but our culture living, enduring and ready to be shared.

As Seattle hosts six matches, the Puyallup Tribe is bringing Lushootseed language and Coast Salish culture to soccers global stage.

During the tournament, six matches are being held on the lands of Coast Salish peoples, who have lived here for thousands of years. And for the first time, Native nations are playing visible roles in official host-city ceremonies and events.
The Puyallup Tribe of Indians has made history as the first Indigenous nation to officially partner with a FIFA World Cup host city. The role grew from a partnership between Sounders FC and the Puyallup Tribe, launched in 2021. Throughout World Cup 26, the Puyallup Tribe is Seattles Official Legacy Supporter, bringing language, culture, and heritage from the Puyallup and other Coast Salish tribes into the tournament. So what exactly does this look like?
