Related: About this forumPencils Down, Hands Up – BioShock Infinite Has Gone Gold!
When we first announced BioShock Infinite, we made a promise to deliver a game that was very much a BioShock experience, and at the same time something completely different. And our commitment to making good on that promise, no matter what, has been our driving force for the last three years or so.
You, the fans, have been incredibly patient with us. You shared your hopes and wishes for the game with us, and you kept the faith.
Today, Im happy to announce that the game has gone gold. What that means is that it has been approved by both Sony and Microsoft (and the PC Gods, natch) to be sent to the manufacturing guys to load up fleets of trucks with BioShock Infinite and be driven to a store near you on March 26th.

Don't get me wrong: I'm really looking forward to the game.
But Bioshock's DRM was total bullshit. Two installs, and then you're SOL. Wait. Now we've upped it to five installs.
However...looks like Irrational Games has made a great decision:

Only Steam's DRM. Nothing else.
Now to make sure my computer can run it. No console version for me.

(29,047 posts)The first one was pretty fun. I especially liked the beginning. It had a horror feel to it.

(16,660 posts)Both are very creepy and immersive, but didn't like the pipe puzzles in I. II has a simpler meter needle puzzle.

(2,314 posts)Is it mostly shooting? The description from the company, and a story I saw in NT Times, made it sound amazing..a whole world to explore. But the commercial called it a shooter.
I'm a woman in my sixties, Secret World, and currently playing Tomb Raider, so SOME violence is okay. But I need more than that.

(20,599 posts)use the skylines is also your melee weapon, and it gets "finishing moves". What sort of finishing moves do you think a wrist mounted device with spinning metal hooks might get?
I'm playing it on Hard, so the violence is probably magnified for me. It's still very bloody in places.
It's also magnificent and beautiful, huge and inspiring, dark and secretive, hopeful and damning..... Infinite is a true masterpiece. Go watch a few gameplay videos on YouTube, particularly one or two from the middle of the game. That will help you decide.

(2,693 posts)Bioshock 2 was a godawful disgrace, for 3, i will await it's hitting the $5 bin.
about 2 months if it follows the trend set by 2.

(13,753 posts)Bioshock 2 was fone with a lot less freedom, as people kept interfering with him, 3 seems to be better, because he had cleaned house and gotten to make his vision of the game.

(2,693 posts)I enjoyed the first one that much. I think you are dead on on bio 2. While I understand 3 not being borderlands/fallout 3, It has to be better then the second one....but is it as good as the first?

(13,753 posts)Honestly, most gaming companies are going to really have to work to top the whole companion dynamic...yes, you play as oen character, but the companion (no spoliers) is every bit as much of your play as you yourself are...Imagine the dynamic you had with the litte sisters in bioshock one, and triple it! (which is why emotions get really, really deep.)

(29,047 posts)What made the second one less enjoyable for you?

P.S. Never mind I found it on Dictionary.com "natch" is slang for naturally.
Thanks for the thread, Ohio Joe.
