Football
Related: About this forumA few fun football memories....
While football is far from my favorite sport...as someone who did play some sports (volleyball, a little softball, some tennis, badminton) I could/can appreciate a great play in any sport.
● I used to enjoy Warner Wolf's play of the day/week including football.
● When growing up (60 yrs ago) if a particular one of my uncle's was here at our home on Army vs Navy day - I think we had 2 modest TV's; I could hear my dad yelling for Navy!; while my uncle in the other room w TV was yelling for Army!
● I tried to find this on line using all kinds of wording with no luck...
There was imho a hilarious front page illustration from the NY Times (Sunday?) Sports Section; had to be mid-00's (possibly 2005?).
In the very bottom left corner was the kicker in kicking action.
At the the very top right corner was the football (having -been- kicked) covering slightly a bit of the headline.
The headline was something like
They Play A Game?"
the full illustration had the gridiron, then a whole bunch of half-time performers; including Paul McCartney on a grand piano(!) which was in 2005.
I think the article was about how the Pre-game show had gotten longer, and longer.
Anyway, I thought it was a very clever, funny page layout, and illustration.

This isnt exactly a football memory but a funny one about watching sports. Now, Im going to go back a few years
. 🙂
When my sister and I were small, we sometimes visited my aunt and uncle and cousins in another city an hour away. They had an ancient TV in their TV room. Wed gather in that small room with my boy cousins to watch games on that crappy black and white TV. Once in a while the TV would just cut out and the screen would go blank. My uncle and cousins would bring the picture back by stomping on the floor! My sister and I thought it was so funny. My uncle was vice president of engineering for a large appliance manufacturer and youd think theyd have a better TV, but they only ever had this one!

One would think!
Or get a better TV repair person, at least!
Maybe a delicate connection that would unconnect? Maybe gravity related that the stomping would jiggle back in pkace? 😄
