In pic #2. The white crescent on the cheek is usually the giveaway with those guys…as opposed to the Common Goldeneye which has a more round white patch. The Barrow’s will have a purplish head in the sunlight.

I’ll have him double check when he gets home…just in case I’m wrong.

I LOVE buffleheads! They’re just the cutest dang things. For a diver duck, they can take off of the water without a lot of space because they’re so small. Most divers need some more real estate to pull that off.
