flour, and pan fried. We like them alongside scrambled eggs. My favorite though is with a good grilled steak.

done primarily to remove dirt, grit, and bugs (like slugs or ants) from their honeycomb crevices. The salt forces insects out.

Here in Maine my seriously dedicated mushrooming pal has never found any morels, but we have found some wonderful black trumpets, chanterelles, lobster mushrooms, oysters and hen of the woods. Last year’s drought made pickings very slim. I occasionally scout around some old orchards. I bought some fresh local morels serveral years ago, and it was a blissful experience.
