I don't think I'll ever get used to

Players are bigger, faster, and stronger today. Grabbing a base with the mass-velocities involved means lots of broken fingers, joints, ligament damage. Stuff players need to play defense.

after dislocating his left pinky finger on a headfirst slide into second base. He wasn't wearing oven mitts.

A bad choice for a slide, that it takes longer to reach the base than a regular slide?
