I need to get this off my chest ...AGAIN. Derek Jeter was a no doubt 1st ballot hall of famer

But he wasn't the best shortstop in baseball at any time. EVER.

He wasn't even the best shortstop on the Yankees for most of his career.

Even God knows that's true. After all, his full confirmation name is "And It Gets By A Diving Derek Jeter".

Great hitter? Hell yes

Great instincts? Hell Yes

Full tilt hustle at all times? Also, hell yes

But he was never at any time in his career a great defender.

The other thing that always bugged the shit outta me was his selfish refusal to move from SS to 3rd or 2nd base, despite the presence of actual GG caliber shortstops on his team.

Good and bad things can be true at the same time about the same person - I call this the Derek Dilemma

that Jeter could play for fifteen years, go the Hall of Fame, and never start an All Star game.
