something is missing a jagged tooth caressed by the tongue
recalling a list of little lost loves unable to sleep in the night
searching for chips in ragged bits fragments already far flung
rose thorns piercing the gloves feral animals scratch and bite
what has become of the desperate the need is overwhelming
almost forgotten and left behind helpless tangled in memory
mixed together unable to separate the heart once compelling
cannot reattached chains to bind the medicine is not remedy
learning exposes a deep knowledge the lesson out of futility
as time matures the inner child maneuvers much too slowly
hidden within the forest’s foliage rests the disguise of reality
defining the meek or the mild deciding the evil from the holy
now a collage of color is sent swirling the point of awareness
amidst a life unsteady and twirling barely covering bareness
