No protection
Naked…alone…
In the wilderness
Among the predators
Who seek the isolated
For their consumption
Unguarded and unequipped
For their own defense
Carnivores
Allowed by the system
To destroy and reduce
The people to dust
In their vulnerability
Will there ever be a guardian?
Will God reach down and smite
The jackals in their greed?
As our lives hang in the balance
At the whim of a monster
And his snarling minions
Our margins, paper thin
Floating on acidic seas
Eventually dissolving
Into nothingness.
