another set of rags tossed in the corner of lost love
mildewed cold moldering in a darkened damp dank
no scale to measure the cost either below or above
faint embers smoldering in an old heart gone blank
once a wastrel fire burned consuming the cold soul
never counting the moments nor adding up the cost
as a handless clock turned and spun a fiber of gold
to entwine perceived romance in ignorance glossed
the glittering line that lies between a love and a lust
closing a deep wound a breast pierced by the arrow
hides the buzzing of flies as the skin begins to crust
shedding the scabs blessed yet exposing the sorrow
how long before a memory fades a mind lost in bliss
hold onto hopes shimmering in a final light of a kiss
