I saw my neighbor talking to her cat. The way she was talking it’s like she really believes her cat could understand her and talk back…

(4,157 posts)That is outside, the sundry chats about food. Civet, didn't talk to me for half the day, yesterday, because I recycled his cardboard box.

(7,597 posts)I let him use it for a couple weeks after Christmas, moved it down next to the empty, very cozy looking cat bed, and finally disappeared it one day.
It worked, but if we took no action, he'd still be in the shoe box today.
It's a cat thing.

(5,241 posts)Yoda, one of my cats, moves his mouth up and down in a chewing motion to let me know when he is hungry and he won't take "NO, it is not suppertime yet for an answer".

(25,067 posts)With the tens of millions of pets in this Country constantly chatting up a storm w/ their owners, and living side by side w/ their owners day in and day out, the intelligence is bound to rub off on our animals. The animals know what's going on. Believe me.

(25,067 posts)need their help, you'll get a smarter than expected response from them. Like so many of us, you treat your animals like one of the family (and they are), and thus, we're all in 'it', for each other, look out for each other. A nice thing to have indeed!

(20,036 posts)She listens...and then she goes ahead and does whatever she wants. Because she's a cat!
Our last cat, Logan, was quite a conversationalist. My husband would carry on lengthy dialogs with him, and Logan always had something to say about any topic that came up. Unfortunately, I don't speak Meowish, so I couldn't tell you what Logan was saying.
