I live near the Lone Jack Civl War Battlefield Museum.....
...a few miles outside Kansas City. I ran into an old acquaintance who now volunteers as a tour guide at that museum, and I had to ask him a question that has bugged me for decades: did they ever find Rooster Cogburn's eye*??
(For those of you not familiar, in the original movie "True Grit," John Wayne, playing Marshal Rooster Cogburn, tells Mattie that he lost his eye at Lone Jack, "a little scrap outside Kansas City." )
My friend said he didn't know, but he'd keep an eye out for it.......
