Coming from a music biz background, and an attendee of these events for many years, I see these looks from another angle. IMO, the concept of the look is the same, but, execution by the designer and use of material is completely different. I see studs on leather and the overflowing bra cup as being a dated look. It never looked good to me in the 80s when it was popular and still doesn’t.

But, I do agree with the general point.

I have a feeling that the same ratings would apply.

But, in my personal view.....studded leather...on ANYONE...eeewwww.

separate people. But that generalization doesn't apply to me, I'm happy to say. I appreciate beauty in all the forms that Nature has provided. That means I don't mind seeing skin of any color or gender and wonder why this op isn't about real problems... (as I define them)

her eyes, I see a whole different world. I can't say we are friends but I respect her very much and she teaches me through her experiences. I do meditate on how I can make changes and a difference in this world. Really, how in my daily life can I move this needle? I call her saintly because she doesn't kill some white person every single day. I probably would, but then I can have those thoughts freely because my whiteness protects me and would damn her.

I always knew that my white skin had privilege to move through without being seen; but I didn't realize the cost of black skin until we started sharing posts. I've been called terrible names, but never did I have to really fear being killed while being called those names, just for starters.

I wish there were more honest conversations and that white people didn't fall apart when they are shown how banal and every day evil can be. In Buddhism, the one who loses the argument/debate is actually the winner because they learn something.
