Re: the "Lost Cause", while it must feel awful to be on the losing side of a civil war...

....it must really feel awful to have your very humanity STOLEN from you and then denied to you and every generation of your descendants over multiple centuries, and to have every victory - however large or small - in your battle for your right to be treated like a human being worthy of basic respect and acknowledgment of your humanity - to have every gain in that struggle trigger an angry, spiteful, even violent backlash from the descendants (literally and/or ideologically, broadly speaking) of the same people who stole the basic humanity of your ancestors from them and their descendants (including you).

One of these is not like the other.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
