Virginia governor tightens gun control rules, creates task force
RICHMOND, VA. | BY GARY ROBERTSON
Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe ordered tighter gun control measures in Virginia on Thursday that included creation of a gun crimes task force.
McAuliffe's executive order comes as Democratic presidential candidates are making gun control a major campaign theme following a rash of high-profile mass shootings.
McAuliffe is heading Hillary Clintons presidential campaign in Virginia, which is the home of the powerful National Rifle Association gun lobby, and reducing gun violence has been a focus of his administration.
In signing the order, McAuliffe cited the 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech University in which 32 people were killed and the on-air killings in August of two Roanoke television journalists.

(5,046 posts)He says basically "we are NOW going to enforce the law"?! That is what the NRA has been saying for years..
As for his "no gun zones" he simply does not have that authority, that authority rests with the state legislature Many Virginian's have gotten big checks over such things.
So in short, he has really not done anything, BUT...................
This has lit up the local people here the comments on local tv stations INCLUDING WSLS 7 in roanoke are on fire with this topic, and now they are energized now to go vote in an off year election...
..And it's his own fault..
EDIT, why he mentioned the VT killer, and WDBJ7 killer is beyond me, they BOTH, passed their background checks, and owned their guns legally...

(15,396 posts)We must face that bloomies money bought him, and he promised gun bans when running for election.
We're getting what we deserve...we voted for him knowing he was a grabber.
